AWARD NOMINATIONS

At the Fairbanks Convention, AMA recognizes the rock stars of Alaska’s mining industry at the Closing Convention Banquet.

Awards are presented to members of AMA nominated by their peers for outstanding service, practices, and more. 

You can help us recognize rock stars of Alaska's mining industry!  Please consider nominating a person, colleague, company, project, etc. for recognition at this year’s Closing Banquet held April 9, 2026. 


Nominations must be received by March 16, 2026 in order to be considered by the selection committee, and can be submitted by emailing them to Deantha Skibinski, Executive Director at deantha@alaskaminers.org
 

The AMA Award Selection Committee includes the Statewide Officers of AMA, the Executive Director, and the Convention Committee Chairmen.

ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP

AMA’s Environmental Stewardship Award honors an active AMA member (whether an individual or organization) who demonstrates environmental leadership. This award will recognize best management practices in environmental protection or restoration associated with a mining operation or project. Demonstration of new approaches in design, construction, operation, or reclamation are encouraged.

THE PROMISING PROSPECTOR AWARD

The Promising Prospector Award honors a new face or up and coming Alaska miner who has made a positive impact on the mining industry in Alaska. This award will recognize a miner who embodies a passion and commitment to promote Alaska through responsible mineral development.

THE GOLDEN HEART SERVICE AWARD

The Golden Heart Service Award honors an individual active in AMA who has exemplified the spirit of advocating for Alaska’s miners.  This award will recognize someone who has gone above and beyond to provide significant effort, expertise, or funding to an issue impacting Alaska’s miners and demonstrates a commitment to fostering the long-term viability of Alaska’s miners, for the benefit of all Alaskans.

CHARLES C. (CHUCK) HAWLEY

LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT 

The Charles C. (Chuck) Hawley Lifetime Achievement Award is named in honor of the longtime AMA member and former Executive Director Emeritus who dedicated his entire career to advancing Alaska’s mining industry. This award seeks to recognize the service contributions of a mining industry pioneer, individual, or employee who, like Chuck, devoted his professional life to ensuring a successful mining industry in Alaska. This award will honor the dedication and success Chuck exemplified during his career: the devotion of time, effort, thought, and action consistently shown in his mining industry service, perseverance and ambition, and a love for educating Alaskans on mining industry endeavors.
